We use the information we collect to: provide, maintain, and improve the Service; generate route recommendations and optimize trip planning; deliver real-time safety features including emergency SOS and location sharing; send you technical notices, updates, and security alerts; respond to your support requests; analyze usage patterns to improve the user experience; and comply with legal obligations.
3. Location Data
WilderBound collects precise location data to provide navigation, route tracking, and safety features. Location data is collected only when you actively use navigation or enable live location sharing. You can disable location services at any time through your device settings, though this may limit certain features. Location data shared with travel companions via the live sharing feature is visible only to users you explicitly authorize.
4. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with: service providers who assist in operating the Service (hosting, analytics, crash reporting); map and navigation data providers to deliver route functionality; emergency services when you activate the SOS feature; law enforcement when required by law or to protect our rights; and other users only when you explicitly opt into features like trip sharing or live location sharing.
5. Data Storage & Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Your data is stored on secure servers hosted in the United States and European Union. Offline map data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. Despite our efforts, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Trip data and itineraries are retained until you delete them or close your account. Location data collected during navigation is retained for 90 days for service improvement, then anonymized. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us or using the in-app account deletion feature.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: access, correct, or delete your personal data; object to or restrict certain processing; data portability (export your trip data); withdraw consent at any time; and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
